Our faculty also empower students with the knowledge and skills needed to handle the ethical and medico-legal issues that are commonly encountered in clinical practice and research through a common postgraduate course in Medical Ethics and Physicianship.
We provide specialist clinical services at the Mental Health Unit (MHU), Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation (ADAR) Unit/ Clinic , General Adult Psychiatry Clinic, Forensic Psychiatry Clinic, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Clinic, as well as at the Academic Model Providing Access to Healthcare (AMPATH) Clinic.
The department of Mental Health coordinates an outreach Community Psychiatry program that involves collaboration with neighbouring health facilities at Mosoriot, Turbo, and Burnt Forest sub-county Hospitals. Our department has also continuously engaged in collaborative research and training with partners in other centres around the world; including our North American consortium partners (Indiana, Duke and Brown among others) and Maastricht University Netherlands.
We endeavour to participate in promoting Mental Health through research, innovative training and evidence based care.
